Scholarships are available for all minority medical and dental students from Ohio, with preference given to those intending to practice in, or around, the Dayton area. Applications are available through Gem City Medical Society.

Attention All Gem City Members. We need your time, knowledge and wisdom to benefit Wright State SNMA students. The length of commitment will depend on what class the student is in. 22 volunteers are needed to make this program run smoothly. Mentoring is a fulfilling way to give back to the community, and it will be time well spent! If interested please contact Rhea R. Rowser, MD, WSU SNMA faculty advisor, by September 15th at 937-208-4384 work, or rhearowser@yahoo.com

The Student National Medical Association -- SNMA was established in 1964 with a mission committed to supporting and addressing the needs of both underserved communities and underrepresented medical students. Founded in 1977, the Wright State University chapter of SNMA continues to carry out the mission of the parent organization with the greater Dayton area. Recent organizational activities include participation in tutoring and mentoring projects, providing health education within the community, and a growing commitment to international endeavors. Since its inception, SNMA has honored its graduates by having a Senior Recognition Banquet. The organization felt this event was necessary to acknowledge the triumph of medical students who are committed to working with the medically underserved. The banquet also provides an opportunity for graduates to say goodbye and personally thank family, friends, and faculty for their support. The date of the banquet is TBA.
